Looking for something less formal we took a recommendation for a “hip, local Cuban spot” located in Hell’s Kitchen. We were immediately impressed with the friendly staff. The bartender went out of his way to help us select a drink we would like even changing the recipe on one so it would not be sweet for D.
I selected the Strawberry mojto which included fresh strawberries and mint…a wonderful summer drink.
I chose the “Crispy organic salmon with seared cauliflower, red pepper mustard green olive sauce” ($24). This was prepared to a medium temperature and flavored with a crust of seasonings. The sauce was a great compliment although it was difficult to distinguish all of the flavors listed in the description.
D went with the star of the evening the “Smoked tea braised short rib with soy charred string bean, truffle malanga puree” ($23) was out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender these ribs were perfect in every way.
