As a connisseur of spas, I was very anxious to try the Bellagio. I figured that everything else in the hotel was first rate, the spa would probably be one of my top choices. However, I was a bit disappointed. Before I begin, I should note that this could be in part due to my high expectations. I decided to try a Detox Thalasso Seaweed Body Treatment, 50 minutes ($160). I made this decision 30 minutes before I wanted the service and was pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate me on such short notice. The spa is luxurious and huge. After changing I was asked to wait in the lounge for my treatment (normal spa protocol). The strange part was that is was so crowded that I couldn’t find a seat. I waited a couple minutes and an attendant took each of our names and led us to a second lounge, where the only seat was a bench in the hall. I guess the bad part is the hearding, and the good part is that with such a big spa they are able to make last minute accommodations.
My treatment was enjoyable and I would recommend it. I was lathered with a fishy smelling goo (she warned me about this) and then wrapped in a body sized heating pad. The interesting part was that the seaweed bubbled…it felt really different. I didn’t mind it because I felt like it was an active detox, but I imagine it might bother some. I was asked if I wanted some “add-ons” these were De-stress eye ($35) and Contour lip ($35) treatments that I could get while I was baking. I did add the treatments and enjoyed them, but I thought it was strange to be asked as I was having the treatment. Overall, I enjoyed the treatment and will go back to try more.
